On 29 October 2019, on the initiative of the Wiktor Dega Clinical Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Hospital of the Poznań University of Medical Sciences and the NeurOstArt Foundation, a scientific conference entitled “Clinical trials in the light of current legislation” was held.
The conference was opened by the Director of the Hospital Dr. Przemysław Daroszewski and Jędrzej Solarski – Second Deputy Mayor of the City of Poznań, welcoming the guests, among them attorney Paweł Sowisło and other representatives of our Law Firm – legal adviser Anna Piotrowska-Musioł and as a speaker – legal adviser Joanna Badke.
Active participants in the Conference representing the world of science included: Dr Rafał Staszewski, Chancellor of the Poznań University of Medical Sciences, Member of the Medical Research Agency; Professor Mariusz Korkosz, Member of the Polish Society for Rheumatology; Professor Włodzimierz Samborski, Deputy Director for Clinical Trials, Wiktor Dega Clinical Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Hospital of the Poznań University of Medical Sciences; Dr. Dominik Dytfeld – a member of the Department of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation of the Poznań University of Medical Sciences.
One of the lectures – concerning selected legal and organizational issues of in clinical trials – was given by Joanna Badke, legal adviser, who in her everyday practice deals with clinical trials and opinions on contracts related to them.
The conference consisted of three sessions, each of which was aimed at discussing legal issues related to the organisation of clinical trials. In addition, attention was paid, inter alia, to non-commercial clinical trials, current development of clinical trials, and their future – on which representatives of active pharmaceutical companies, such as Abbvie and Novartis, spoke.
The conference provided an opportunity to exchange views on the existing legal regulations concerning clinical trials, the necessary scope of their changes, as well as their further development.
