On 28 October 2019, the Regional Court in Poznań, 4th Criminal Appeal Division, issued a judgment acquitting the Director of the Road Works Department in Poznań, the Director of the Municipal Roads Management Department in Poznań, the Deputy Director of the Municipal Roads Management Department in Poznań, and the Deputy Director for Technical Affairs of the Municipal Roads Management Department in Poznań of all charges against them.
The indictment in this case was filed by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin.
This case was unprecedented and was widely commented on in the media because of its subject matter, the alleged offences and positions of the accused.
At the initial stage of the proceedings, the persons charged by the Prosecutor’s Office represented themselves. The fact that the lawyers were already involved in the pre-trial stage of the case made it possible to mount an effective defence, which ended with an acquittal for all the defendants. In the course of the case, it was necessary to analyse the multi-volume design and technical documentation, expert opinion and personal evidence, as well as to prepare and submit to the authorities conducting the proceedings appropriate motions for evidence.
At all stages of its proceedings in the case lawyers from the Law Firm – Monika Gruszczyńska, Joanna Sowisło-Wawrzyniak, Urszula Nowaczyk, Joanna Kaczmarek-Pawlak, Anna Marciniak and Alicja Kociemba were involved.
