Conference: ‘The Power of Women in Advancing Health’

Attorney-at-law Paulina Kozłowska took part in a conference on the current challenges facing the healthcare system, with a particular focus on the safety of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period, as well as the quality of perinatal care.

The conference entitled ‘The Power of Women in Promoting Health’ was organised by the Ministry of Health, the Patient Ombudsman and the Helidor Święcicki Clinical Gynaecology and Obstetrics Hospital of the Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań.

The event brought together representatives of the public administration – including the Deputy Minister of Health and the Patient Ombudsman, the Chief Sanitary Inspector, as well as the Acting Director of the Wielkopolska Provincial Branch of the National Health Fund, the Hospital Management, medical experts, consultants, representatives of patient groups, foundations and other individuals interested in raising standards and quality in healthcare.

The key topics discussed during the conference included:

• the revision of the organisational standard for perinatal care,
• patients’ rights and staff communication with patients and their relatives,
• building a therapeutic relationship based on trust and respect,
• the role of medical staff in ensuring a sense of safety,
• the role of medical staff in ensuring a sense of safety,
• procedures for dealing with specific situations, including victims of crime, including sexual offences, and patients in reproductive crisis,
• the need to update clinical procedures and practices,
• the funding of medical procedures.
